Potter
Lumi grew up in Chile, and trained as a potter at the University of Chile, Completing her training in 1968. In 1969 she moved to the US and had her first solo show at the Seattle Berg Gallery, working at the Seattle Pottery Northwest project from 1969 to 1973. At which time, she returned to Chile to set up one of the first reduction fire potteries in Santiago and presented her work at several local galleries and juried art shows.
She returned to the US in 1974, joined Pottery NW again and this time as Associate Potter, she set up her studio in Seattle. During the 1975 Northwest Exhibition she received her first US Pottery award from the University of Washington's Henry Gallery. She was appointed as art teacher at Lakeside School in 1980 and taught art for many enjoyable years as her young family was growing up. Since 1975, her Seattle studio has been producing and presenting work in art galleries and juried art shows in the Northwest, including the Seattle NW Art Center, Panaca Gallery in Bellevue, and the Bellevue Arts and Crafts Fair.
During the last six years, since she moved her studio and home to Friday Harbor, she has been producing and contributing to the arts and crafts activities of the islands, including the Mud to Magic Exhibition, the Best of the San Juan's Fair, the Dimensions Art Gallery group show, the Studio Tour and some of her pieces have been purchased for permanent display in the Lambiel Art Museum of Orcas Island.
